recognition of 'Career progressor' In little more than 20 years this company (began as a store in a Palma street) is now leading the service and maintenance of boats to customers all over the world.
The new edition of the AENB Awards recognizes the 'Biography' of our sister company Rolling Stock.
The history of Rolling Stock began in 1989 when an imaginative Bernadette Tiltman started the business selling materials for the maintenance of ships with only the help of a van. Hence the name chosen for Rolling Stock., Rolling Stock, becoming the first mobile shop in Palma, Majorca.
The success of the initiative led to the purchase of a second truck and, from there, the company has not stopped growing. In 1995 it opened the first retail store in the Club de Mar and in 2001 the second in the old pier, near where the central office is now located. Today these buildings supply not only material for boats but sell designer nautical clothing for the whole family, a line of business that is enjoying great success among its clients. That same year, 2001 Bernadette Tiltman joined forces with Mark Conyers who was associated with creating the RS Finishing & Refinishing company dedicated to the painting of yachts and directed to providing service to large boats. In 2005, along with partner Steve Branagh, created RSB Rigging Solutions dedicated to specific services for megayachts. A year later they opened the facilities are Oms, as part of Finishing & Refinishing and in the future intend to work also as a center for vocational training. New services group Have recently added two new services to this group of companies: ProClean RS, specializes in cleaning the interiors of superyachts, and RS Shore Support, with that answer to any service you may need for land the client of the superyachts .
Today The Rolling Stock Group is a group of Spanish companies, where managers are English, almost all of its employees are Spanish and it serves customers around the world. From Australia to the United States. Rupert Savage, its CEO since 2006, says Bernadette Tiltman could not have picked a better place to set up the business. "Palma has become one of the main venues for the maintenance and repair of vessels, with a source of very good and very professional," he says. "The new owner of the shipyard, STP, creates an environment even more favorable, since we have five travelift with a capacity exceeding 750 tons, for boats of 55-60 meters. This, coupled with excellent connections to the rest of Europe, makes us an attractive place for people. " The success of Rolling Stock is to offer a comprehensive service which can make an individual plan for each client. Since the vast majority of companies also have been affected by the crisis, which Rupert Savage summed up as "less work, more competition and customers demanding a reduction in prices." However, they have a large portfolio of clients and are confident that this winter have many jobs, as all boats need painting "The owners have delayed for a couple of years, but now they can not delay it more and have to deal with this spending," The environmental issue is very much on the group's philosophy, indeed RS Finishing & Refinishing was the first application of craft paint in the world who received the certificates 9001 (quality) and 14 001 (environment). This has led them to receive important distinctions, one of the last has been a finalist in the 2009 CAEB Environment Awards . The award received from the AENB for its professional career, a recognition that Rupert Savage fills him with pride. As a company considers it very important to be associated with AENB "because it is the best way to keep informed of all legislation that relates to the sector, both regional and national" he says. "The Association is very close to the business and knows what we think, so the Administration can express what we feel to protect the business that is not ours alone, but throughout the Balearic Islands."
